Since the start of 2022, and through your support and encouragement, we are delighted to share that we have now funded the planting of our first 12,000 trees!
…As well as removing damaging CO2 through natural carbon sequestration, this also empowers our donor members to be considered climate positive/carbon negative for the next 12 months). Remember too, this reforestation effort also creates jobs and fair income for people living in extreme poverty.
Extreme poverty is defined as having to live off less than $1.90 a day. Unfortunately, close to 10% of the world’s population still fall into this bracket. With contributions of just 66¢ a day, you members of the ReWrite Our Story community are already helping to tackle both climate emergency and global inequality through the program’s reforestation initiatives in Madagascar. The fourth largest island in the world, Madagascar is already experiencing the world’s first climate-change-induced famine.
As the saying goes, a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step …and, together, we have now created the first four months of work and income for these communities-in-need.
