Donate to the Best Charities with Confidence Using Candid’s Platinum Seal

Purpose on the Planet today announced it earned the Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency for 2023. The Platinum Seal is the highest level of recognition offered by Candid (formerly known as GuideStar) and is only provided to the best charities and nonprofit organizations that are shown to meet the required standards of transparency and accountability.

Candid is the world’s largest database of nonprofit organizations. The nonprofit rating initiative provides anyone interested in charitable giving with the information necessary to make a well-informed determination when looking to donate to the best charities and nonprofits. In 2023, fewer than one percent of U.S.-based non-profit organizations have been recognized with the Platinum Seal to date.

To earn the Candid Platinum Seal, non-profit organizations must meet a rigorous set of criteria, including:

  • Providing complete and accurate information about their mission, programs, finances, and governance on Candid
  • Sharing their strategic priorities and information about their impacts
  • Being open to feedback and engagement from the public

“We are honored to receive the Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency, which is held by many of the very best charities and nonprofits in the country.” said Peter Adams, Purpose on the Planet’s Executive Director and Co-Founder. “This acknowledgment is a testament to Purpose on the Planet’s commitment to transparency and accountability, principles on which our organization was founded. We strongly believe that by sharing our data, metrics, and strategic priorities with the public, we can build trust and confidence in our organization and the positive impacts of charitable work as a whole. We very much hope this level of recognition will introduce our work to new supporters who wish to donate to the best charities tackling the major global challenges of our time.

Purpose on the Planet provides sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable communities in Africa, through the restoration of mangrove forests, in order to fight global poverty today and climate change for tomorrow. The ReWrite Our Story program below is listed on the UN website as an Acceleration Action for the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

ReWrite Our Story: Relieve Poverty ∙ Restore Nature ∙ Remove Carbon ∙ Reduce Emissions

Every $20 donated is used to:
– Create one day of work and income for a community living in extreme poverty.
– Plant 100 mangroves to remove an estimated 1 metric ton of CO2.
– Empower donors to reduce their own future carbon footprint and develop a low-carbon lifestyle by adopting the latest trends and insights that are provided by our monthly e-newsletter series, Sustainable Solutions.
