The ReWrite Our Story program enables you to become part of a multi-pronged climate action plan and to select the level of positive impact that you would like to create for people and planet in a very concrete and transparent manner! Every $20 donated will be used to:
- Create one day of fair wage employment for people in extreme poverty in Madagascar
- Plant 45 mangrove trees at our designated site on the world’s fourth largest island
- Remove an estimated 1 metric ton of CO2 in the course of an average maturation period

ReWrite Our Story: Offset Your Own Carbon Footprint

The ReWrite Our Story program is one of the most impactful and cost-efficient ways to offset your carbon footprint through a charitable donation. As outlined above, every $20 donated will be used to create one day of work and fair income to plant 45 mangrove trees on your behalf at our “Employ-to-Restore” location in Madagascar, where reforestation has been taking place since 2012.
In addition, should you choose to contribute a minimum of $20 a month or $240 a year, Purpose on the Planet will plant an additional 60 mangroves on your behalf. After time of planting, 600 mangroves will reclaim around 14 metric tons of carbon dioxide during a typical period of maturation. Your digital Climate Positive confirmation will therefore reflect your carbon negative status for the year, based on offsetting more than the average US footprint of 13.9 metric tons (as calculated for 2024 by Statista).
Mangrove forests cover just 0.1 percent of the planet’s surface but store up to 10 times more carbon per hectare than terrestrial forests. In fact, mangroves store more carbon per unit area than any other ecosystem on Earth, as they do so not only in their roots and branches but also in the soil and sediment that collects around them. As a result,”blue carbon” (the sequestration and storage of carbon by coastal ecosystems) is increasingly viewed as a critical part of the solution to climate change, since restoring these vital ecosystems also helps protect vulnerable coastal communities from extreme weather events, such as rising seas and flooding, and provide vital habitats for marine life. In total, your donation to offset your carbon footprint through sequestering and storing “blue” carbon will contribute to range of environmental and socioeconomic benefits that span 12 of the 2030 Global Goals outlined by the United Nations.
