On September 25, 2015, all United Nations States signed up to support the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. On the 75th anniversary of the United Nations and the 5th anniversary of this adoption of 2030 Global Goals –and in the midst of a pandemic that radically transformed our economies and societies – this short film was first broadcast on television channels, radio stations, and streaming services around the world.

The video, featuring celebrities Beyonce, Dom Cheadle, and Thandie Newton, tells the story of the world as it is, as it was, and as it could be. It presents the opportunities we have as a human family to reimagine and reshape the future.  After a thought-provoking introduction to the challenges ahead, the film divides into 4 segments, which represent the areas where most action is needed:

  1. Climate and Our Planet
  2. Poverty and Inequality
  3. Justice and Human Rights
  4. Gender Inequality

This was just one of the compelling works that helped inspire the creation of the Purpose on the Planet Foundation, as well as the adoption of our efforts to tackle both climate change and extreme poverty—all, through global reforestation projects.  As part of our overall mission, we will also continually work to raise awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals, both in the US and beyond. As a world community, we all need to do our part to ReWrite Our Story!
